Frequently asked questions

Does PASS.LT store the passwords it generates?
No. The password is generated locally in your browser. It is not sent to a server and is not stored.
What counts as a strong password?
A strong password is usually long, random and built from different character types. At least 16 characters is typically recommended.
Can I use the same password for multiple accounts?
Not recommended. If one account is compromised, that same password could be used to access your other accounts.
Is a passphrase safer than a regular password?
A long, randomly chosen passphrase can be both safer and easier to remember. The key is that the words are picked randomly.
Why should I skip lookalike characters?
Lookalikes such as 0 and O, or l and 1, are easy to mistype. This option produces a password that is easier to read without sacrificing strength.
Does this generator work on a phone?
Yes. PASS.LT is fully adapted to phones, tablets and desktops.
Is it safe to enter my password for checking?
Yes, PASS.LT checks password strength only in your browser. The password is not sent to a server, stored, or visible to PASS.LT. However, you should never enter passwords on unclear or untrusted websites.
